How important is it for a marketing person interning at a high-tech co. to learn tech? What’s the fastest way?

Anna24norcal asked:

I think the offer letter has been sent and I am a little scared since the products include Software, Operating Systems, Application Development, Storage, Servers, Desktops, Consulting & IT Services, System Options, Network & Security Products, etc. etc. all of which I only know enough to get by as your average computer user.
Any tips on how to attain the most amount of knowledge as fast as possible? Like a cliffnotes type thing for the tech world? :) Thanks a million!

Go to lunch with some people from the technical departments in your company. They can tell you what their department does. Seek out managers if you can - they should be able to tell you how they all fit together to make the company and product run, more than lower-level techie types will (they may just give you a bunch of way technical stuff that won’t help, and may just confuse you).

Good luck!
