Situation- Do I be nice, or honest?

multi level marketing
rkered asked:

A lady at work has gotten involved in a Multi-level-marketing program selling Mangothene (sp?) juice. Its advertised as a miracle juice that cures arthritis and infections and everything else for a mere $32.50 for a 25 oz bottle. She mentioned it to me because she knows my dad is sick and thinks this might help. She gave me some info on it, and in reading it i got skeptical and googled it. Its a SCAM. She was trying to be nice and helpful, and I appreciate it, but at the same time she is putting money into this and expects to make a lot of money back by doing so.

So, do I thank her for her concern and go on about my day and not to hurt her feelings. Or do I tell her that she is being scammed and upset her and essentially throw her good intentions back in her face? I know it will hurt her feelings if I tell her the truth, and I dont want to make office life difficult.

discreetly suggest to her to look more into it before taking such a big leap in her financial endeavors, hoping she will stumble upon your source

also, make sure YOUR info is accurate

Well…. it’s not a “scam” per se…. it’s highway robbery to charge that much for simple Mangosteen (although they have to pay everyone who hired anyone above her, after all. LOL!), but it’s not exactly a scam.
Mangosteen is a great antioxidant that can help all the cells in your body. Some people claim that it’s cured their disease and whether that’s true or not is irrelevant because their testimony is that they believe it was the Mangosteen… that’s not fraud or a scam. If they said it WILL cure cancer, then that’s fraud.

The best way to let her down without getting her needlessly mad at you would be to say you appreciate her thoughtfulness, but you did some research and you don’t want to go that route at this time. You won’t hurt her feelings (which can get sticky in a workplace setting), and hopefully she’s nice enough that she won’t keep asking.

anything which claims to provide miraculous cures like that is very much likely to be a scam!THERE IS NO CURE FOR ARTHRITIS or many of the other diseases that these things claim to be able to cure!please tell her so that she can stop being scammed too !I know if I were her I would appreciate your telling me!
Just always remember that wherever there is a need, some unscrupulous *as**rd will come up with “cure!!!”

Very nice of you to think this way.
Why don’t make a copy of what you find on the web, and discreetly leave one on her desk .
Hopefully you are not the only one she told about her selling that product , so she is not going to know where it is coming from, If not, keep the peace, she is a adult right ?
